I reckon if we have mini series talks publish on you tube to demystify about pain and brain would help. Pretty who a series of "myths busters" on pain and neuroplasticity.

Speech is in its essence just a patterned behavior. We have learned it from our role models. When encountering a situation, we go back to the sets of neural synaptic patterns that best meet our needs. I marvel at how often I hear the words of my parents come out of my mouth and how I used to hate those words. We desperately need a new language ( not just words) for pain. Sports, art, wine, and boxing all have their own languages. We need to find ours and pattern it. Since foreign languages were my bain in school, this is a real struggle. If we do not develop a model, how can we use the mirror neurons to spread it? JohnB

Totally agree, also teaching accuracy of pain knowledge to other health care professionals such as surgeons etc who perpetuate the problem of Descartian thinking. How about a TV documentary Lorimer! We get stuff on the human body over here in the UK on the BBC with Professor Robert Winston and others. None that I have seen that address the way the body processes pain as of yet! I'm sure it would be a popular show given the number of pain sufferes out there and may help in a big swipe to get people (public and professional) to start shifting their thoughts! Do you have any contacts in the BBC/ABC??
