Thanks so much for this article. Much appreciated. I am suffering the whole gamut of central sensitisation, fibromyalgia and spinal problems (with ops on the cervical and lumbar regions). For the past three years my pain has increased, and mental acuity has gone down the drain. I'm most interested to know more about whether this latter condition is due to the pain, as I thought it a result of the suite of drugs I'm taking. Please keep me up with this info!

Very interesting, but how do they rule out the factors of lack of sleep, pain medications & psychotropic medications that are eminent with RSD/CRPS?

it is hard to believe that enduring changes like occur as it would be common to have many chronic pain problems in the course of a lifetime. it would be of interest in these patients to know that they did not have chronic pain problems at some other point in their lives (e.g., low back pain). not answered in this paper is the question of how long a pain problem must occur to lead to these changes. all said this is an intriguing finding.

I suspect this normalization may also occur when CRPS is in remission. I've been in remission for several months and have been delighted to feel more alert, quicker reactions, able to do quick mental calculations, multitask, concentrate and remember.
